    Hi there.

I seem to be receiving an error when running an Omnis web application. The browser is generating the following error:

“An error has occurred when communicating with the server. Press OK to retry the request”.

Now, I know that error can occur if the Omnis service is down on the server, or you specify the wrong port. I think I’ve eliminated all of the potential problems, and I am still cannot figure out what is going on.

The server has 2 instances of Omnis 10 running (for 2 different applications). It has worked fine for months until recently. Right now, once application (using port 5901) is failing with the error message above. The other application (using port 5902) runs normally.

Some of the things I have checked/tried:

    – I have run Omnis both as a service and run it manually. (When I run it manually, I do not see any unexpected errors in the trace log)

    – A hard server reboot did not fix the problem

    – I don’t see any rogue Omnis.exe processes on the server

    – I have verified that the port number in the html page corresponds to the port number in the application

    – I tried disabling the other omnis instance that was running and using its port instead

    – From another PC I ran the powershell ‘test-connection’ command. The port does show ‘TcpTestSucceded’ as true, so there is something listening on the port, it just isn’t responding.

Does anyone have any other ideas what the problem may be? Are there other things I can test/look for?

Are there known issues with running 2 instances of omnis on the same server? (We do that on another web server)

    Thanks in advance.
