Yes, you can upgrade from the Community to the Professional Edition at any time. You simply subscribe to the Professional Edition and all features of the new edition will be added to your Omnis license key. So you can continue to work on your project immediately with the additional Professional features.
The Omnis Studio Community Edition is a powerful environment for building complex business applications but it is limited to the Omnis JavaScript Client technology for developing web and mobile apps with a PostgreSQL backend for developing web and mobile apps with a PostgreSQL backend. The Professional Edition provides you with the option to develop desktop apps, too which are fully compatible with your mobile and web apps, and it adds more flexibility and power as it provides you with Data Access Modules to all other popular database systems including Oracle, MS SQL Server, MS Express, MySQL, SQL Anywhere and all ODBA and JDBC compatible DBMS. You can always upgrade your platform subscription from Community to Professional Edition.
When you first start Omnis Studio you will see the Registration screen. To use Omnis Studio you need to activate your software license using an Omnis ID. If you don’t have an Omnis ID login you need to create one. When you click the Create / Sign-in button on the Registration screen you will be transferred to a web browser tab to login with your Omnis ID. To create an Omnis ID, you can use an existing SSO (Single Sign-On) from one of the listed providers, such as Google, Microsoft or Apple, or you can use your own email address.
Once you have created or signed in with your Omnis ID, the web browser tab will close and you need to switch back to the Registration screen in Omnis Studio, which will show what licenses are available to you – if you are a new user there will be one Studio Pro Edition license, or a Trial version.
Schools and other educational institutions may use the Community Edition for teaching application development however, Omnis Software offers special packages for educational institutions which include all advantages of the Omnis Studio Professional Edition and are better suited for academic use. The Omnis subscription-based licensing allows you to always stay on the latest version of Omnis Studio and to pay month by month and only as long as you are using Omnis Studio.
For developer license subscriptions you don’t have to commit to a certain minimum term and can choose to pay monthly or annually.
If for some reason you no longer wish to subscribe in the future you can easily terminate with 30 days notice.
No, your developer license subscription continues to run until you terminate it. You can terminate your subscription at any time with 30 days notice.
Your subscription will expire automatically when you fail to pay a subscription fee. In this case we will send you a reminder within 2 weeks after due date. If we haven’t received your payment 2 weeks after this reminder Omnis Software will notify you about the termination of your subscription and your Omnis Studio developer license will stop working.
The subscription fee is generally required each month and year that you want to use the product (i.e. your license is not perpetual). If a subscription is terminated,
