AI is changing how software is built — and what software itself can do.
At Omnis, we’re working on bringing these capabilities directly into Omnis Studio: helping developers work with AI during application development, while also making it easier to create applications that use AI, agents and intelligent automation themselves.
And we’re doing it in a way that stays true to Omnis: integrated, open and controlled.
We’re building native support for MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that enables AI assistants to connect with development tools, applications and data.
For Omnis developers, this will open up new ways to work with AI around their existing applications. AI assistants will be able to help explore classes, understand code, create and refactor methods, and assist with building application components — all within a controlled Omnis environment.
The goal is not to replace the developer. It is to make development faster, more productive and increasingly intelligent.
The same technology will also enable a second, equally important capability: allowing Omnis applications themselves to interact with AI.
Selected application logic, functionality and data can be made available to AI through clearly defined tools, with Omnis providing the controlled gateway between the AI and your application.
This means you can bring AI into real business applications without bypassing the business logic, security and application architecture you already rely on.
Business applications cannot simply hand everything over to an unpredictable black box.
Omnis continues to manage state, control flow and the deterministic application behaviour your solutions depend on, while AI provides reasoning and intelligence for clearly defined tasks.
This is where things get especially interesting.
Agents, skills and tools are being designed as first-class objects in Omnis Studio. You’ll be able to work with them directly in the Omnis IDE alongside the windows, remote forms, classes and methods you already know, using familiar Omnis concepts, notation and development tools.
If you know how to build an Omnis application, you’ll have a natural path to building intelligent agents as part of it.
Our AI architecture is being built around open standards and designed to work with the AI technologies and providers you choose.
No dependency on one AI vendor. No need to redesign your application around a proprietary AI ecosystem.
Instead, Omnis provides the application platform and controlled integration layer — while you decide where and how AI should be used.
Development is already underway, and we’ll be sharing much more over the coming months — including previews, technical details and information about the first capabilities becoming available in Omnis Studio.
