  • Omnis Studio together with TexLive and PlantUML

    Hi,
for having a real crossplatform solution Im using PlantUML and TexLive. Benefit : Office is cool but… Im working on Linux, Win, Mac, Docker, VMS and embedded devices.
And as the input of this is real ascii file, it can be used to add it to svn, git, omnis vcs, fossil without conversation. And DIFF is your friend…
@Alex Clay : how about adding PlantUml to your Unit Test Framework to get sequence charts and more ?
If interested, I can post some samples here.
BTW : is there a simple way to reverse a omnislib to get all classes, methods,….

I find this topic very interesting. I’ve recently started to work in a company that uses Omnis Studio. The project is huge and it’s going to take me a lot of time to dig and “discover” the architecture. It would be very useful to have a way to “auto-generate” the hierarchy and connections (dependencies) of a given class or library.

I used plantUML in the past and it’s very useful. Working with Java projects and IntelliJ you could do this process easily.

Hi and a happy new year, thx for replying.

Yes, PlantUml, DocAsCode : we are now moving a lot of things to this approach in our DevOps / SWE projects and more,

Biggest benefit : its a text which you can use it as it is, or use a data driven aproach to bring live into it with the power and spirit of Omnis Studio.

For storing and reviews we use a SVN server, ok the world is GIT, but this infrastructure is still running also for more than 15 years.

As we have to follow ASPICE and ASIL / VDA,…in AutoSar projects , its a lot more than just writing docs.

But , Im using it now also for project management ( Plan, WPS, P-Diagram,…)

I hope will find the time, to bring some examples, best practices etc. to this forum

    Rainer.

After all those years, Im still a fan of Omnis and the spirit behind to keep it alive.
