Lineal Software Expands into New Office and Inspires Next generation of Omnis developers

Lineal Software Solutions Ltd is a multi-discipline IT company based in Barnstaple, North Devon, in the UK, offering comprehensive business IT support, hardware, cloud-based security, communications and telephony services, in addition to software development. Lineal was started in the 1980s by Mike Matthews, a leading member of the Omnis community and co-organiser of the EurOmnis developer conference (www.euromnis.com).
Lineal’s flagship product is SQLWorks, an extensive business management software for accounting, CRM, stock control, manufacturing, warehouse management and so on. First developed in 1983 using one of the first versions of Omnis, SQLWorks is now on Version 8 for Mac, Windows, Mobile and Cloud, with a continual process of development.
Due to its continued success and the need to accommodate more staff, Lineal has expanded its operation, moving into a newly renovated office in central Barnstaple. “The next generation of Lineal’s own SQLWorks accounting and stock control software for cloud and mobile platforms, designed to give businesses a competitive edge, will be built right here in North Devon,” said Mike Matthews. You can see the new offices here.
Lineal has taken on several apprentices, working with Petroc College in Devon, and more recently has worked with Pluss to help staff member Reuben Winsor start a career in software development: Pluss is a Social Enterprise in the UK that delivers employment services to inspire people of all abilities to achieve a career.
Reuben’s time with Lineal has been so successful he has helped them redevelop the SQLWorks solution for mobile and cloud, and in 2017 he attended the EurOmnis developer conference astounding many experienced Omnis developers with his skills. Pluss has produced an inspiring video about Reuben and his success in software development.

We would like to congratulate Reuben on his successes so far and look forward to following his career with interest. We would also like to thank Mike Matthews for his continued support for Omnis Software and the Omnis community, and again look forward to seeing further growth with Omnis in the coming years.
