I remember attending the first Euromnis Conference in 1998. This was the era of the great transition from the «classic» Omnis 7 to the first version of Omnis Studio. It was great to understand how this new object oriented coding paradigm could help us design more robust applications. We were in awe.
Each subsequent Euromnis conference showcased advances in Omnis Studio such as the advent of thin-client, the JavaScript client, the OW3 workers, REST interfaces, advances in the IDE, oBrowser for rendering web pages in thick clients, performance analysis and more
In addition, conference topics introduced companion tools that are now in widespread use like: Postgres, Sentry, automated builds, testing harnesses, graphic dashboards, xcomp like JavaScript controls, inter system messaging protocols like Kafka, ‘Internet of Things’ devices, GPS tracking and CarPlay/Android auto techniques, cloud setups and more.
Topics at all our conferences show how to expand the capabilities of the Omnis Studio ecosystem as it works with the outside world, to greatly expand the technical and commercial possibilities for Omnis developers.
The spotlight on AI
This year is another such watershed. Multiple sessions will explore AI from every angle: the planning and selection of AI models, GDPR implications, integration of AI with Omnis Studio in real products, code building and more. There will be an AI forum. Omnis Studio 12 is out, with AI features and modern gestures that support desktop apps (swipe, rotate, pinch to zoom).
Omnis Software engineers will be showing all the latest developments using AI in Omnis Studio, including MCP to optimize and accelerate coding, and smart features for end-user apps.
The main goal of the conference has always been a deep dive into advanced technology, highlighting Omnis Studio and companion tools to enhance what a developer can do with the entire Omnis Studio platform. As an added bonus, speakers often provide code that works, so you gain valuable resources to take away!
