1. Login Screen
To enter details into AppCat you must click on the "Edit Catalog" link which opens an Omnis remote form (you must install the Omnis web client to access AppCat). To log into AppCat, you enter your User-ID and password, and click the "Logon to AppCat (DevCat)" button.
If you are a new user, you must create a new User-ID and password by clicking the "I am a new user and want to register and get access to AppCat" button. Then you must select your language (for example English, French, German, Spanish), and define your User-ID and password.
2. Entering Application and Developer Skill Data
The AppCat contains a number of remote forms that allow you to enter Supplier (developer or distributor) details, information about each application you provide, and any customer references you may have for your applications. These various functions are accessed via the sidebar on the main AppCat window.
Please note that any new entries or modifications of data in AppCat will be reviewed by or sales staff and will only become visible in searches after approval.
To enter details into DevCat, about the development skills you can provide to clients, you must 1). be a member of an Omnis Partner Program and 2). have already provided your company details in the AppCat. Only then can you apply to Raining Data for access to the Skills-Editor function. To do this you must click on the "I want to get authorisation for entering data into DevCat" button on the initial AppCat screen, opened via the "Edit Catalog" link. Complete and submit the form and we will provide the required access to your existing username/password account. The next time you enter AppCat the skill editor will be enabled. See below for additional help about the skill editor option.
3. Suppliers option
The Suppliers option lets you enter details about your company or any other company that may distribute your solution. Details for at least one company must be added, and more than one company is allowed. The "Company" name, "City" and "Country" (from the dropdown list) are mandatory fields.
Save your work with the "Save changes to DB" button. Once you enter your company details, you can go to the Applications option and enter information about each solution you provide.
4. Applications option
The Applications option lets you enter information about each application you provide. Note you must enter Supplier details, as described above, before you can enter information about your application. The "Application Name", "Developed by" (choose from the Suppliers you entered) and at least one of the "Developed with" fields are mandatory. Furthermore, you should add the description of your application in at least one language in the "Languages" tab pane. In the "Distributors" tab pane you can select the suppliers that you entered in the Suppliers option and are selling your product.
Please note that the tab bar at the base of the Applications form lets you add multiple entries for Distributor, Business Type, Solution Type, Deployment, DBs supported, Languages supported and Customer Refs. You must check or clear the available options as appropriate.
You must save your work with the button "Save changes to DB".
5. Customer Refs option
The Customer Refs option lets you enter references for your application, that is, details of companies who use your solution and who are willing to endorse your product. We strongly urge you to obtain permission from any customer before entering their details into AppCat.
You must save your work with the button "Save changes to DB". If you have entered any customer references, you may go back to the Applications option and select those who are using your application in the appropriate tab pane.
6. Skill-Editor option
Assuming you have access to the Skill-Editor (see above section 2 if you have not), you can enter your development skills and experience into DevCat, which is part of the AppCat web application. Having entered your skills, customers can search DevCat (AppCat) based on their development requirements. To enter details, click on the "Skill-Editor" option and then the "Skills" option in the sidebar of the AppCat window. Enter the year (e.g. 2001) since you have been in business and your Omnis or D3 experience. Enter the number of developers you have in your organisation and available to clients. Similar to the multilingual description field in AppCat, you should enter supported languages and your company profile in the first tab. Then enter your Business experience, related to the type of solutions you provide, then your Technical experience including your Programming and Database experience or knowledge, as well as indicating your reference Applications. Click the "Save changes to DB" button to save your entry or changes.
