Login Screen
To enter details into AppCat, click on the "AppCat Logon "- which opens an Omnis remote form.
(You must install the Omnis web client to access AppCat). To log into AppCat, please enter your user-id and password, and click the "Logon to AppCat " button.

If you have forgotten your password, you can have your password emailed to you by entering your user name and pressing "Password Reminder". If you have forgotten your user-id, please email support@omnis.net and we will be happy to send you a reminder.

If you are a new user, you can create a new user-id and password by clicking the "Register" button. You can then enter your contact email address and choose a logon password.

My Details Screen
The My Details screen contains your user information and allows you to change your email address and password if required. Edit the fields as necessary, then press "Save Changes" to confirm.

ODPP users can also sign-up for DevCat using this screen- which changes once you become a DevCat member to show your ODPP-registered company name.

To log-out of AppCat or to switch users, press the "Logout" button.

Companies Screen
The Companies screen allows you to add details about each of your companies- (although you may only need a single company). If you are an ODPP member, you should enter your registered company details first.

To add a new company, first press the "Add Company" button- then fill-in the entry fields as required.
To list a company as a distributor of your products, click the "List Company as a Distributor" checkbox.
To list a company as a developer only, please leave the checkbox un-checked.

To delete a company, first ensure that the company is selected using the "Select Company" droplist, then press "Delete Company". You will be asked to confirm before the company details are deleted.

The "Save Changes" button writes current company details to the database. Changes are automatically saved when switching companies, but this option forces the data to be written immediately.

The "View Preview" button allows you to see what the company details will look like in search results. A new window opens to display the details- which can then be closed without affecting your edit session.

Uploading a Logo
To upload or replace a company or application logo, press the "Upload Logo" button. This allows you display a logo or screenshot in the search results. Use the dialog window which opens to select a JPEG image which should be no larger than 64KB. (The uploaded image may appear distorted inside the editor but will be shown *actual size in search results).

To remove a logo, press the "Remove Logo" button.
 
*Application logos are resized for display purposes if larger than 600x250 pixels. Company/Distributor logos are resized if larger than 250x250 pixels.

Applications Screen
The Applications screen allows you to add details about each of your applications.
Information about each application is sub-categorised and shown using a series of tabs:

General Info - basic information about the application including pricing and logo. **
Description - a description of the application in one or more languages.
Development - information about technologies and languages supported by the application. *
Deployment - information about how the application is deployed. *
Distributors - lists the distributors of the application. *
References - lists references to customers who use the application. *
  * Please click the checkboxes to select all categories that apply to the application.
  ** Please refer to the previous section regarding uploading and/or removing a logo.

To add an application, first press "Add Application", then complete the entry fields as necessary.

To delete an application, first ensure that the application is selected using the "Select Application " droplist, then press "Delete Application". You will be asked to confirm before the application details are deleted.

Application details are automatically saved when switching applications, when a new application is added or when viewing a preview, but the "Save Changes" button forces the data to be written immediately.

When you add or make changes to one of your applications, it is automatically hidden from search results. When you have finished making changes to an application, please un-check the "Hidden" checkbox and submit changes by pressing the "Submit Changes" button. This notifies AppCat that you wish the application to be shown in search results.
To hide the application from search results, please leave the "Hidden" checkbox checked and press "Save Changes".

Customers Screen
The Customers screen allows you to add the details of clients who use your applications and who are willing to act as reference customers. Reference customers will be shown as links in search results.

To add a customer, first press "Add Customer " ,then complete the entry fields as necessary.

To delete a customer, first ensure that the customer is selected using the "Select Customer " droplist, then press "Delete Customer ". You will be asked to confirm before the customer details are deleted.

Press "Save Changes" to write customer information to the database immediately.

Press "View Preview" to see how the customer information will appear in search results. The information is opened in a new window- which can be closed without affecting your edit session.

Please refer to the earlier section regarding uploading and/or removing a logo.

Skills Screen
The Skills screen is only available to DevCat users and allows additional company details to be specified.
This information is used when searching for developers (via a DevCat search).
Skills information is sub-categorised and shown using a series of tabs:

General Info - additional company information including profile descriptions.
Business Experience - information about the company's business experience. *
Technical Experience - information about the company's technical experience. *
  * Please click the checkboxes to select all categories that apply to the company.

Press "Save Changes" to write company information to the database immediately.

Press "View Preview" to see how the information will appear in search results. The information is opened in a new window- which can be closed without affecting your edit session.

The "Hidden" checkbox determines whether the company details will be shown in DevCat search results.
Please select this option as required before pressing "Save Changes".

Email Communication from AppCat
AppCat (the "AppCat Daemon") automatically sends emails to your user email address whenever you:

Request a password reminder
Request a user-level change, for example when signing-up to DevCat
Submit changes to one of your applications for moderation

Please do not reply to emails from AppCat as these are not monitored. If you have a query regarding AppCat, please use support@omnis.net instead.
