Omnis Studio and MySQL

Since its introduction in Omnis Studio 4.0, the embedded MySQL Data Access Module (DAM) has provided applications written in Studio with simple, fast and reliable access to *MySQL databases.

The embedded nature of the DAM means that there is no need to install separate MySQL clientware. No initialisation or setup is required- just enter the connection details and go.

Omnis developers who use MySQL are recommended to take advantage of
MySQL® Network™. MySQL Network provides a comprehensive set of enterprise-grade software, support and services directly from the developers of MySQL to ensure the highest levels of reliability, security and uptime. All information is available at: http://www.mysql.com/network/

The MySQL Network Certification assures developers that the Omnis Studio MySQL DAM has been tested and certified with the MySQL Network binaries according to the MySQL certification procedures.

Our MySQL DAMs are now built and tested against the latest MySQL 5.0 certified client libraries and database server. MySQL version 5.0 includes support for stored procedures, triggers, views and more. Details of new features and enhancements added in this release of MySQL can be found here.

MySQL DAMs are available for the Unicode and non-Unicode versions of Omnis Studio version 4.1.

*The minimum database level supported by the MySQL DAM is version 4.1. In versions of Omnis Studio prior to version 4.1 the MySQL DAM was required to connect to a commercial version of MySQL Server only. This constraint has been removed in Omnis Studio version 4.1.
